Chief Nick Bowles
Chief Nick Bowles has been with the Anniston Police Department for more than 24 years. Chief Bowles was promoted the rank of Chief in July of 2020. Chief Bowles served as a patrol officer then case investigator before being promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Chief Bowles served as a shift Sergeant and shift Lieutenant in the Uniform Patrol Division and was later moved to command the Training and Inspections Division. Chief Bowles was eventually promoted to the rank of Captain where he commanded the Uniform Patrol Division before being promoted to Chief of Police. Chief Bowles served several years as a tactical operator and negotiator for the department’s Special Response Team (SRT) and was the team commander while he was the Uniform Patrol Division Captain. Chief Bowles holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice.
Captain Matt Caballero
The Uniform Division is commanded by Captain Matt Caballero. Captain Caballero has been with the Anniston Police Department for more than 20 years. Captain Caballero was promoted to the rank of Captain in February of 2023 and has served as the Investigative Division commander until January of 2024. In January of 2024 Captain Caballero took command of the Uniform Patrol Division. The Uniform Division, also known as the “Patrol Division”, is considered the backbone of the police department.
Captain Emily McCullars
The Investigative Division is commanded by Captain Emily McCullars. Captain McCullars has been with the Anniston Police Department for more than 18 years. Captain McCullars was promoted to the rank of Captain in January of 2024 and has served as the Investigative Division commander since her promotion. The Investigative Division is broken down into three units; The Case Investigators Unit, Warrants Investigator Unit, and the Crime Lab Unit.
Captain Justin Sanford
The Special Operations Division is commanded by Captain Justin Sanford. Captain Sanford has been with the Anniston Police Department for more than 19 years. Captain Sanford was promoted to the rank of Captain in January of 2019 and has served as the Special Operations Division commander since. The Special Operations division is broken down in to two units, The Special Operations Unit and The Street Crimes Unit.
Captain Clint Parris
The Administrative Division is commanded by Captain Clint Parris. Captain Parris has been with the Anniston Police Department for more than 25 years. Captain Parris was promoted to the rank of Captain in July of 2017 and has served as the Administrative Division commander since. The Administrative Division is responsible for budgeting, procuring equipment and supplies, maintaining police records, property control, facility maintenance, and the inmate work detail.
Lieutenant Brett Lloyd
The Training and inspections Division is commanded by Lieutenant Brett Lloyd. Lieutenant Lloyd has been with the Anniston Police Department for 13 years. Lieutenant Lloyd was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in July of 2017. The Training and Inspections Division is divided into the Training Unit and the Inspections Unit.
