The Community Centers in Anniston offer a wide variety of activities and programs to the City’s adults and youth.
Gymnasiums and Meeting Rooms are available for rent in some Community Centers. The Rental Application outlines the rules of conduct and fee schedule. The application may be completed online, printed, and submitted to the Department of Parks and Recreation for approval.

The Anniston Aquatic & Fitness Center features an eight-lane, 25-yard pool with a depth ranging from 4-7 feet! We offer a variety of fitness classes throughout each day, from low impact for those with arthritis to aqua groove, a dance party in the water! Swim lessons are offered at various times during the year, and the pool is also available for pool parties from 11:30AM to 1:30PM and 2:30PM to 4:00PM on Saturday. We recently received brand new cardio equipment, and we have a state of the art weight room, not to mention that Pickleball is now available in our gymnasium! The Anniston Aquatic Center is also home to the Barracudas Swim Team! This state championship program (ARPA State Champions: 2021, 2023, & 2024, and ARPA State Champion Runner-Up: 2022) is a great way for youth to compete and develop their swimming skills! The Carver Community Center has a gymnasium, two meeting rooms, a computer lab and a full-size kitchen. There is also a public library attached to the center. The adjacent park has lighted outdoor basketball courts, a pavilion with electrical access and a playground. This is also the location of the new Wellness Park which features an outdoor swimming pool operational during summer months, a refurbished 1/6-mile track, pavilion, exercise stations and a lighted walking trail that connects to the new West Anniston Wellness Trail.

We are honored to pay tribute to Dr. Satcher, the 16th Surgeon General of the United States, right here in his hometown of Anniston, Alabama, by affixing his name to this facility.
The clinic is led by St. Michael’s Medical Clinic, a non-profit organization devoted to enhancing healthcare access for low-income and uninsured residents of Calhoun County.
Our Learning Center is also housed at this location, and it offers internet access, computers, and day programs for citizens. The learning center is available for rental use as well!

Our Senior Center offers many wonderful programs for those looking to live an active, social, and engaged lifestyle despite their physical limitations. Individuals 55 and over can apply for enrollment but to qualify for meals the senior has to be 60. Those interested in enrolling can call the City of Anniston Senior Citizen Therapeutic Recreation Center at 256-241-2678 or come out to the center located at 980 Littlebrandt Drive in Anniston! Any senior citizen age 60 or older that would like to sign up for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, please contact Bernadette M. Burroughs at the Senior and Therapeutic Center at: 256-241-2678.
