2024 Redistricting
The Zoning Board of Adjustments hears and decides applications for the approval of special exceptions in those cases where a zoning ordinance permits such exceptions. The ZBA hears and decides applications for variances from the requirements of the zoning ordinance in cases where it is claimed that their literal enforcement or interpretation would result in unnecessary hardship to a property owner. The ZBA hears and decides appeals in cases where it is alleged that a decision, order or action of an administrative official relating to the City’s zoning ordinance is in error. The ZBA is not a recommending body and its decisions are final, subject only to review by the courts.
The Zoning Board of Adjustments meets as needed at City Hall. For more information, contact our Building & Safety Division at: 256-231-7720.
