Main Street Anniston Board

The National Main Street Center was established as a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 1980 as a way to address the myriad issues facing older and historic downtowns during that time. Working with a nationwide network of coordinating programs and local communities, Main Street has helped over 2,000 communities across the country bring economic vitality back downtown, while celebrating their historic character, and bringing communities together.

Main Street Anniston is a designated community within the Main Street Alabama network. Together, we strive to revitalize historic communities by using the Main Street Four-Point Approach. This method leverages local assets—from cultural or architectural heritage to local enterprises and community pride—to revitalize our district. The four points of the Main Street approach work together to build a sustainable and complete community revitalization effort through Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Vitality.

The powers of this Main Street Anniston Board shall be managed and exercised by its Board of Directors, consisting of Nine (9) members who shall be residents or owners of real property located in the City of Anniston, in the State of Alabama, shall be elected by the governing body thereof, and shall not be officers thereof or of the State of Alabama or of any county or municipality.
