2024 Redistricting
The Anniston City Youth Council is a group of concerned, active teens who live within the City. Members of the Youth Council have a strong interest in local issues and civic responsibilities. The Youth Council helps to give back to the community through learning activities and service projects.
Youth Council members have the opportunity to participate in the planning and implementation of citywide events. Involvement fosters a greater appreciation for our community and helps bestow many skills that will be helpful throughout life. It also is a platform to interact and connect with likeminded peers and foster new friendships.
The purpose of the Anniston City Youth Council is to:
· Serve as liaisons to the Anniston City Council
· Implement and participate in community initiatives
· Prepare youth to be future civic leaders
· Develop leadership skill and demonstrate leadership abilities by working with and in city government
To be eligible to participate on the Anniston City Youth Council, students must be of high school age (9th – 12th grades) and attend one of the three schools in Anniston:
Prospective members are nominated by school faculty and peers to serve on the Youth Council.

VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES: Community Clean-up; Senior Citizen Interaction; Childcare at Fort McClellan; Anniston Changers
INTERESTS: Learning languages; Reading; International travel
PLANS AFTER GRADUATION: Attend Troy University, Double Major in American Sign Language and Spanish, become an International Translator/Interpreter
