Public Works | Weekly Pickup Information

On this page, citizens may review information from our Public Works Department’s summary reports. We will work to update this page each week (excluding holidays and other extenuating circumstances) with relevant details of the weekly work completed by our Street Department

Weekly Brush Pickup

Our Public Works Department, and its divisions such as our Street Department, consist of many hard working men and women. The brush pickup calendar is colored by week according to the area of our city that the street department will be working through. The Brush map corresponds to the colored calendar. In addition, months with a red star icon are months with free disposal days. The days for free disposal will be circled in red in those months.

Please note, at times our Street Department team may be pulled away from their routes in order to attended to emergency situations or other pertinent matters.

2024 Brush Pick-Up & Free Disposal Day Schedules

Citizens of Anniston, to the right you will find links to our Brush Pickup Schedule. NOTE: Leaf pickup does not follow the same schedule as brush pickup, unless your leaves are bagged

The calendar is colored by week according to the area of our city that the street department will be working through. The Brush map corresponds to the colored calendar; thereby showing each area our team will be in each week.

In addition, months with a red star icon are months with free disposal days. The days for free disposal will be circled in red in those months.

For more information please contact our Public Works Department at:  256-231-7742 (Monday – Friday: 7:00AM – 4:00 PM).

Please note: If your brush was not picked up in the week our street dept. was scheduled to visit your area, please report the missed pickup on our website here: www.annistonal.gov/work-order-request-online-portal.

Leaf Pickup Process

Leaf season runs from November to March. During this time, residents can request bagged leaf pickup by placing a work order online or by phone. Once submitted, our team will collect your bagged leaves within one week. This service applies only to bagged leaves, not loose leaves or piles.

How to Submit a Work Order:

Understanding Leaf Pickup vs. Brush Pickup:

  • Brush Pickup: This follows a rotating weekly schedule covering four city sections. View the map and schedule here: https://tinyurl.com/mv886v2c. For more information, visit our Public Works webpage: www.annistonal.gov/public-works.
  • Loose Leaf Pickup: Loose leaves are collected using a vacuum truck, which resumes each week where it left off. This process may take longer, and trucks may remain in the same area for multiple weeks. For faster service, bagging your leaves and submitting a work order is recommended.

If you have questions, contact Public Works at 256-231-7742, ext. 272 (Monday–Friday, 7 AM–4 PM).
